Why Men Hold Society Back

Helen Keller is one of the greatest examples of succeeding against the odds. However, if it wasn't for Anne Sullivan, the world might not have known about Helen Keller. In a June 1, 1886, commencement speech, Anne Sullivan stated, "Self-culture is a benefit, not only to the individual, but also to mankind. Every man who improves himself is aiding in the progress of society, and everyone who stands still holds it back." Unfortunately, the majority of men I know rarely put in self-culture work and have a high risk for falling into the trap of holding society back.
The Man Trap
Statistically, women spend more time engaging in self-culture or personal growth activities than men. In a 2019 article titled Gender and Psychological Well-being published by the National Library of Medicine, a study was referenced that shows how women scored higher than men in personal growth and positive relations with others. It's apparent that men are clueless on the reality that they are more sophisticated than skills that go on a resume. (See graphic below)

Men are notorious for making rules but are easily trapped into violating one of the most important rules that benefits them and society. The 17+83 Rule provides a breakdown of human potential. It shows how marketable skills make up 17% of skills that are used to earn a living, and the remaining 83% is linked to meaning-making skills that can be used to reach the highest growth potential.
Men are trapped in taking more pride in marketable skills because these skills can be used to build empires. They put more work into building empires that feed egos than building environments that prevent egos from undermining personal growth. As a result, the risk is high for the people around them to become a product of their egos, which slows down the progress of a society.
The fact remains, people were never meant to be a product of egos. Neither are they confined to being the product of their environment. Every person has hidden assets within their soul that can be used to make environments contribute to their highest growth potential. Unfortunately, most men are trapped into building Character Profiles™ that ignore these assets.

Men & Character Profiles™
To reverse this trend, men must realize that the advancement of a society is not measured in how gifts and talents are used to build empires. It's measured in how meaning-making skills are used to build strong Character Profiles™. In short, men can no longer remain beginners in mastering skills that lead to strong Character Profiles™.

Building strong Character Profiles™ is more sophisticated than traditional character development where participants have zero tools for scoring growth potential. Men have a strong affinity for knowing the scores and stats of their favorite sports team and players. They are also concerned about credit scores and stock indexes, but clueless on how the most important score in their life contributes to their impact on the people around them.
The gender gap in personal growth is real. Just Google, "women vs. men reading" and you will find numerous stats confirming that women read more books than men. Women are active in showing up for self-improvement while most men are content with showing up to watch or play games.

Character Profile™ is the ability to show up and make decisions to push potential and add value beyond what you do for a living. It's more sophisticated than traditional character development because it provides access to critical data that reflects how decisions are made for Intuitive Growth™.
Intuitive Growth™ is defined as purposeful interactions with surroundings and it's a major blind spot in personal growth circles. By measuring these interactions, we can score the decisions that men make to temper their egos to become a better version of themselves. It's a behavior health number that is just as important as physical health numbers and it's certainly more important than the scores or stats of your favorite player or team.
Unfortunately, Intuitive Growth™ remains a blind spot among men and therefore the risk remains high for men to engage in behavior that holds society back. You can no longer be passive in improving your Intuitive Growth™ score because the world desperately needs more men who are active in building strong Character Profiles™.
